The Padilla’s Prayer Request
Welcome to the Padilla’s Prayer Request
February 2010
Newsletter
Dear Friends in Christ,
Thank you for praying specifically for the Lord’s guidance to us at Las Tierras Mission. My time away (2 days) was refreshing physically (God blessed us with almost a foot of snow in the mountains of New Mexico!), but above all I came away with clear direction for the year and a renewed calling to serve our God and King here on the US/Mexico border.
1. Valentine’s Day Dinner
On Feb. 9 we will host a dinner at a local restaurant in which folks of Las Tierras Church will invite unchurched friends and neighbors. Please pray that God will bring the right people and that they would enjoy the evening, but also have ears to hear a “gospel in marriage testimony” from Pastor Aaron Zapata and his wife Lety.
2. “Pray for our Neighbor” Outreach
Next week a few of us will be visiting neighbors to ask how we might be praying for them and their needs. We have prepared a card, one half of which they keep as a reminder that the saints of Las Tierras commit to pray for them, and the other half we take to remind us to pray for our neighbor.
Ask God to give the saints of Las Tierras courage to approach their neighbors and friends in this way; pray that God would manifest his power and mercy in graciously answering their prayers according to his glory and will.
3. Rodriguez House
From Feb.22-24 we will have a team of 20 people from Kansas serving the Rodriguez family in the continued construction of their house. Pray that God would prepare the team physically and spiritually to serve their Lord and this family. Pray for their safety as they drive from Kansas to El Paso, and thank God for raising them up. They will insulate the attic, finish furring out some walls and then paint.
4. New Bible study
On Feb. 23 we will start a new small group Bible study in another part of El Paso where a couple of Las Tierras families live. Ask God to bless the teaching and fellowship of the group so that we all might be discipled to Christ Jesus. The plan is for me to lead it for a couple of months and then hand off the leadership of the group to another person. We are working to get at least 75% of our attendees in a small group this year; we are presently at about 45%.
In these tough economic times, thank you for persevering in your sacrificial giving to us and the ministry of Mission to the World here on the border. Some churches and individuals have had to stop their giving to us because of budget constraints. Please pray for them that God would bless them for their kindness of many years, and that the Lord would supply their needs as well.
Thank you for laboring alongside of us in your prayers!
Grace and Peace,
Manuel “Tito” Padilla
